I love the how the webinar emphases the importance of keeping horses in a more natural setting and that success begins from a place of emotional and physical balance and relaxation, however there seems to be a disconnect from this and the presence of a whip, which is an aversive tool with threat potential and thus stimulates the FEAR system. Plus the idea that a dominant mare or dominance in general is something that science tells us is not true for horses living in a feral setting. Many of the ideas presented in this webinar are misleading and outdated. Modern science informs us through research in Equine ethology, animal behaviour, anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, psychology and learning theory that many of the beliefs about equine behaviour and training need to be brought up to date.
Thank you Alison for taking the time to watch my presentation. You are absolutely correct that a whip can be a tool of intimidation and fear. I consider my stick a tool of communication, simply to extend my body as my body is tall and the horse’s body is long. My horses do not fear the stick, because my intent and energy as well as body language comes from a place of heartfelt connection and genuine love.
Please help me understand your sentence: “Plus the idea that a dominant mare or dominance in general is something that science tells us is not true for horses living in a feral setting. ” Are you saying that dominance is not something that happens in a feral herd at all? Or are you referring to the Lead Mare not being dominant? Here I would wholeheartedly agree!
I am sorry to hear that you find some of my concepts misleading. I have seen over and over again positive results with the concepts I am teaching and applying on a daily basis. While I love science and do my best to follow up on the latest discovers (there are so many, aren’t there?), my heart and my horses response show me over and over again that the results are quite magical…
Many blessings to you, and again, thank you for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts.
As always, with heaps of <3,

I loved this presentation. I am not an expert but I believe and experienced wholehearted connection. This presentation just gave me an assurance that what I believe and has been naturally or instinctively been using with my horses.
Thanks for this approach so helpful when you are either an experienced or a beginner horse owner.
